Netherlands vs South Africa,T20 World Cup action

A win for South Africa against Netherlands! Finally they have managed to topple the Dutch in ICC events. Lost against Netherlands in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, they lost against the same team during the T20 World Cup of 2022, but today the Proteas have come out on top against this same opposition after a couple of years. The Proteas were in huge trouble having lost four wickets within the powerplay, but Miller and Stubbs have come to their rescue tonight. QdK, Reeza, Markram and Klaasen departed without contributing much, however, the experience of Miller and the exuberance of Stubbs steatied SA’s sinking ship. Unfortunately Stubbs couldn’t make the most of the start he got, however, Miller stayed till the end and took South Africa over the line in the 20th over.

Netherlands scored 103/9 and set a target of 104 runs for South Africa.

Highlights (Overs 6-10)
-> van Meekeren bowls an economical first over
-> An excellent spell by Kingma, finishes off with figures of 2/12 (4 overs)
-> A steady partnership building between Stubbs and Miller for the fifth wicket
-> South Africa need 72 runs from 10 overs with 6 wickets remaining
There hasn’t been a single boundary in this innings so far. Proper struggle for South Africa.
Netherlands are celebrating while the umpires get together to confirm whether the catch is taken cleanly. They’ve sent it upstairs. Markram is shaking his head. Length ball down leg, he looks to clip it away but gets a faint inside edge. Edwards dives across to the left and it’s hard to say for sure if the ball has touched the ground or not. Third umpire is convinced that the fingers are underneath the ball.
Nortje: He (Jansen) has been bowling well in both the games. He got a wicket off the no ball unfortunately. I think we did a good job by restricting them to 100-odd. Batman was excellent towards the end. We have been good in the field in the two games, the boys have been working well, hopefully we continue doing that. It’s great to have a team that’s backing you. There have been a lot of talks in the media, it’s great to have the coaches back me. Special to perform for the team. It’s fun to be a part of (of this group), we have been playing along for a few years, we have all bases covered. Really hope we go all the way this year.
